Funnytechnic Comedy Club at ASU Polytechnic
Funnytechnic will be a club in which people gather to play improv acting games. It will be very fun, even for people who have no experience with acting and don't know what improv is.
Not familiar with improv? Here's some examples of improv games:
- "Good, bad, worst": Three people introduce themselves as some sort of character/personality (maybe it's Michael Crow, a generic homeschool mom, Obama, a specific Century Hall CA, a bunny...). People in the audience ask for advice. For each question, the three actors come up with responses on the spot (one response is good, one is bad, and one is worst).
- "Party quirks": Someone is a host who invites three characters. The characters represent things (usually one person, one inanimate object, and one abstract concept) and these things are decided using audience suggestions while the host actor temporarily exits the room. The host actor then has to talk with the three other actors and guess what the three things are.
Funnytechnic will eventually do more things, including public shows and scripted acting. It's not expected that all members will be in shows, so don't worry if you're shy.
Before Funnytechnic can be registered, I must find 2 students to be officers (probably "vice president" and "secretary"). I want officers who can show up on most weeks. No need for officer-related skills/experience. I will make the roles easy.
